Businessman, Printer Griffith was a native of Sheritts, Ohio but spent his childhood in Lexington, Ky. He worked for the Lexington HERALD before joining the Mergenthaler Linotype Company (Brooklyn, N.Y.) as a sales representative. Griffith eventually worked his way up the ladder to vice-president in charge of typographical development.
